GREER-YOUNG-WESTERGREN HOUSE234 ROSSITER STREET The Sam Westergren Sr. home, one of the oldest in the community, was built in the decade following the Civil War. The original site of the house was at Buffalo and Artesian Streets until the Westergren’s had it moved to its present location. The house is known by local historians as the Greer-Young-Westergren house, which denotes the chronology of its owners. The structure is characterized as being "transitional" reflecting both Greek Revival and Victorian influences. With respect to both plan and proportions, the structure is Greek-Revival. It retains its central hall with identical rooms on either side and a columnar porch extending the full width of the house. The house is currently owned and operated by The Society of the Body of Christ, a non-profit religious order. « Previous Landmark | Next Landmark » |
